Love Supine was spawned from a calm misty body of water, a place within all of us where an undercurrent of lost hope flows. Forsaken over life’s time, Love Supine evolved into an ethereal vigilante of Love, whose sole purpose is to rescue all defenseless souls from a ubiquitous dimension of hatred, blind faith and insecurity. Let the Love fly…
Kak comes from no one before him, and is the root of everything after him. An angst from the past, and a dark love in the present, and a hurricane lamp to the future. Kak is a surreal exploitation of your intellectual sensuality, elevating you supinely to another dimension of yourself. Feel the warm breath of reality, get brushed by the touch of will, submit your soul to the Love……the Black Wings Of Destiny are here….
Do you wanna be a Lover?
“Pretty cool….kinda reminds me of Joy Division meets Talking Heads.” -Medavon DeRaj’e from LockJaw
“The David Byrne reference as an influence is pretty apparent here, but I also hear some Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) in the vocal delivery. For fans that are into “accessible” tunes, I’d recommend “Lucky Stars”, “Remember” or “H Train”. For those into the more twisted side of life, check out “Molly Ringwald Is Dead.” Notice any Warren Zevon stylings in there? Overall, it’s an upfront look at life that probably all of us have been through if we face the facts. Mr. Zevon would have agreed.” - Jaymz Lennfield of Beatallica
“Each song not only sounds different, but they had completely different musical and artistic interpretations! The music reflects the lyrics to which not everyone does. I enjoyed myself listening to you and could barely sit in my seat!!” – Fan Letter
Information
Love Supine (http://www.LoveSupine.com) is an alternative, emo, indie band that was created, written and produced by Kak, who hailed from Phoenix-based alternative band Skinny Jim, in 1998.
Kak is originally from Wisconsin, where he, like everyone else, took on an obsession with Kiss at an early age. Kiss was his gateway to AC/DC and Van Halen, and those were gateways to Rush and Yes, and those were gateways to Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Testament. His first endeavor into a band was a thrash group called Necromacy, which was comprised of all his high school friends.
Working overtime in a pork rind factory for $3.85 an hour, Kak saved up $500 and drove his friends to Arizona in a Chrysler LeBaron with a trailer full of music equipment and clothes….nothing else, not even a job (almost died falling asleep at the wheel). It was at this time that Kak fell upon the pop alternative music of R.E.M. R.E.M. was his gateway to The Replacements, Husker Du, Soul Asylum, and those were gateways to Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, Afghan Whigs and Radiohead. This led him to front a power pop trio called Skinny Jim. After failing to understand the music business, Kak quit music, never to pick up a guitar for 10 years…….
And now Love Supine….a project for which Kak hopes will become more than just a band. Love Supine will always be music, as Kak is a songwriter by nature. However, he hopes that his appreciation for art and photography will allow Love Supine to be a community-led gallery for his fans and friends as well.
Love Supine is very often compared to artists such as Tom Waits, Talking Heads, Everclear, Third Eye Blind, Peter Gabriel, The Airborne Toxic Event, The Twilight Singers, The Cramps and more, while their popularity mostly resides in the Asia Pacific.

Discography
Soundtracks To Life, Love And Drugs (2001) – A semi-conceptual album that, as the title suggests, is about life, love and drugs. Some have miscontrued the drug subjected songs as being a glamorous take on the usage of narcotics. However, these songs a very much about the downside of drugs usage at many different levels. Kak brought together members of The Pistoleros, Pollywog and Ghetto Cowgirl to make this project happen. The main players were Kak on vocals, guitars, keyboards; Gary M Smith on drums; Thomas Laufenberg on guitar, and RJ Hoffman on bass. Soundtrack To Life, Love & Drugs was recorded at Robin Wilson’s (Gin Blossoms) Mayberry Studios (now known as Uranus Recordings).

“Love Supine combines genres of past and present mixed with distinguished vocals that plain and simple rock your fucking socks off. LS will warm you with a blanket of analogesque sounds and beat your chest in with raw concentrated drums. The guitars vent of blues and rockabilly styles with such clean features that make you want more. Vocals that seem to be inspired by the styles and patterns of classics like Johnny Cash and Tom Waits bring a muscle to the mix. LS will lyrically transform your emotions one way but instrumentally rip your emotions into another direction, which leaves you starving for more leading to the next track. The music inspires your inabilities to be able to bare your naked emotions and to apprehend others. After listening to LS there is that feeling of intimacy that should be felt when listening to any artist, if you want that feeling of intimacy with an artist then Love Supine will not disappoint you.”
-Adam Harvey of Super Sidekick Records
“Phoenix, Arizona-based Love Supine is ear candy for college-radio aficionados. With retro-vocal stylings reminiscent of 80s and 90s alt rock trailblazers (hello David Byrne!) and skilled yet unpolished guitar virtuosity, this band is a rude wake-up call to today’s so-called progressive bands, a reminder of what alternative rock is supposed to sound like.
Love Supine’s collection (Soundtrack to Life, Love, and Drugs) features lots of great tunes – “Lucky Stars”, “Remember” and “H Train” stand out, all which remind me of my college years. In an age where this type of music has gotten almost as formulaic as what it originally provided an “alternative” to, Love Supine will have you reaching for your old early 90s College Music Journal CDs.”
