About The Band

Luv Soo’pine

What is Love Supine? Although the name is quite unique, the way it was spawned can be attributed to one of the most common musical subjects- a breakup. Love Supine metaphorically refers to a lull in a relationship where the spouses or partners become complacent and are not recognizing the importance of effort in a relationship.

Love Supine was created, written and produced by Kak from the Tempe-based pop alternative band Skinny Jim. Kak brought together members of The Pistoleros, Pollywog and Ghetto Cowgirl to make this project happen. The main players are Kak on vocals, guitars, keyboards, Gary M Smith on drums, Thomas Laufenberg on Guitar, and RJ Hoffman on Bass. Guest appearances include Phil Beach from Ghetto Cowgirl on Bass, Steve Phelan on keyboards, Carrie Johnson on vocals, John O’Reilly from One on drums, Blake Simpkins on bass, and Jamal Ruhe from One on bass and guitars.

Recorded at Robin Wilson’s Mayberry Studios (known as Uranus Recordings), diversity and uniqueness were the driving forces on this CD. Ultimately, the most obvious classification for Love Supine would be to call it alternative music, but you could also define it as pop music, rock music or even a hint of metal. Some have described the music as reminding them of David Byrne, David Bowie, Everclear or XTC. The Love Supine influences would have to be Tom Waits, Everclear, Third Eye Blind, Peter Gabriel, Goo Goo Dolls, Replacements, Death Cab For Cutie, Radiohead, Muse and more.
